SCSSP 'B TEAM' Netball Final WINNERS!
A glorious afternoon of great game play and goals galore!
On Thursday afternoon, the ‘B Team’ netball team travelled to Northstowe to participate in the South Cambridgeshire School Sport Partnership ‘B Team’ FINALS.
Having already participated in Round 1 in October and Round 2 in March, finishing 1st in both, this was a tournament against schools we had not yet played!
The team were in Pool B to begin with and had three matches to play. Trumpington were our first opponents, and we won 5-0, followed by a 5-0 win against Hardwick / Cambourne and finally a 7-0 win against The Vine!
We then had to wait to find out which division we had qualified into, which was Division 1, with three new teams to play. Swavesey were now playing for 1st to 4th place, but the team remained calm and played brilliantly!
The matches were much more difficult this time. Our first match against Willingham ended in a 0-0 draw, due to great defending from both teams. We knew we had to stay focused and resilient. Match two was against Barton and we won 11-0!
This really boosted the team going into our final match against Histon Brook, but the team worked together, taking every opportunity against a tough team, finally winning 4-3!
Everyone in the Swavesey team contributed to winning the finals, with lots of goals but also fantastic defensive play, to stop the opposition controlling the ball.

We thoroughly enjoyed it and would do it again in a heartbeat! Our favourite part of the tournament was the teamwork, which brought our team closer together. We came first, which came as a shock because there were other amazing teams there. Thank you to Mrs Turian, as otherwise this would not have happened without her.
Well done team… three of the players are in Year 5 and will continue playing into the 2024/ 25 season. Thank you to Mrs Durant for coming along and to the parents for their support.
Sadly, I bid farewell to my Year 6 players, with a BIG WELL DONE, to Betsy, Manha, Molly, Sophia, and William for all your hard work over the last two years. I hope you continue playing netball in the future 😊
