Octagon Cluster and St Ives Rotary Writing Competition Finalists
As part of the Octagon Schools Cluster group development work, children from the eight schools were invited to take part in a writing competition.
The competition theme was to write an adventure story that was set in a school. The school adventure could be a mystery, comedy, sci fi, historical, detective or a genre of each child’s choice. The children were enthusiastic about this opportunity and many entered across the various age group categories.
Each school's entries were judged to find the finalists, and we have 6 children whose stories have gone through. Judging looked for creativity, flare and originality.
A huge well done to Poppy, Grant, Millie, Bella, Agnes and Charlotte for getting through to the final.
All the finalists' stories from across the schools will now be judged by Mini Grey, author of Traction Man and Egg Drop, along with members from the St Ives Rotary Club.
The winners of each category will be announced at a celebration event being held at Swavesey Village College (one of the eight schools) on 27th June. All finalists have been invited to the event where they will see their work displayed for all to share. We wish our finalists the best of luck for their stories.
