We have been planting trees to support the Queen's Green Canopy Project.
Our Woodland trust trees arrived last week for us to take part in the Queen's Green Canopy Project. The pack of 40 trees included wild cherry, rowan and silver birch trees.
Nominated children from each class/group (e.g. Owls, preschool) planted two or three trees and have received instruction to support their class/group in tending them to hopefully ensure they survive.
The trees were added to a number planted last year at the bottom of the field to create a copse for den building, forest school activities and even climbing in years to come. Additionally, some were planted at the top of the field to provide shade once they have grown more substantially.
The children enjoyed the task, made all the more enjoyable by the sunshine and were keen to learn small parts of an arborealist's trade.
