RE Week Spring Term 2024
Last week was RE week at Swavesey during which we were exploring faiths within our community and beyond.
In KS1 we were finding out about who is in our local community. We went to visit Bethel Baptist church and we met Pastor Bob and Marianne who showed us around. They talked to us about all of the different groups that visit the church, including Rainbows and Brownies. We found out that the Church is a key part of the village community for many people.
In year 3 and 4 we explored different religious texts. We listened to and read stories from the Bible, the Qur’an and the Guru Granth Sahib.
We met Meliha Ali who came to talk to us about her Muslim faith and she shared some of her favourite stories and talked to us about her faith, Ramadan and the festival of Eid.
In years 5 and 6 we were finding out about what it means to belong to the Jewish faith. We learnt about the Torah, the synagogue and Jewish festivals, traditions, and celebrations.
RE week is always enjoyed across the school and the children had the opportunity to be creative in art and drama as well as develop their understanding of different worldview faiths.
