Sunshine for the final SCSSP competition of 2023/24

Year 4's are all smiles at the cricket competition

On Thursday 27th June, two Year 4 cricket teams travelled to Caldecote CC, to take part in the final SCSSP event of the school year! The boys and girls looked very smart in their team kits and although it was sunny, it wasn’t too hot for once, as there was a lovely breeze there.

One team was put in ‘The Lords’ league and the other in ‘The Oval’ league. Both teams played 4 matches each, with everybody having a turn to bowl, bat, field, and wicket keeper (if they wanted to). Lots of 4s and 6s were scored throughout the afternoon plus lots of great bowling to hit the wickets of the opposition!

The teams were very supportive of each other throughout the afternoon and the children who doubted their bowling skills at first were superb! Everyone showed great improvement game after game.

The ‘Lords’ league team and ‘The Oval’ league both won 2 matches and lost 2. Both teams finished in 3rd place in their leagues, which is fantastic!

Everyone receives a certificate and a cricket bracelet, which will be presented to them all in assembly, so the whole school can celebrate their achievements!

The children were asked what they thought about the afternoon, and these are some of the comments…

‘It was a really fun afternoon. I really enjoyed everything.’

‘Can we all come next year, even though we will be in Year 5!’

‘I was really proud when I was asked to be in the team’

‘The sports leaders were all nice and kind and helped us’
