Swavesey 'School Games' 2024

Determination, resilience and teamwork were shown throughout the day.

On a very warm Monday 24th June, this year’s Swavesey ‘School Games’ took place.

Key Stage 2 took part during the morning session. With 10 zones of activities to take part in, they were all kept very busy. Year 9 sports leaders from Swavesey Village College spent the morning supporting Swavesey staff, by helping to supervise the zones and record scores.

Every house team worked together to earn points towards trying to win the ribbon for the School Games Cup! There was lots of cheering and clapping throughout the morning, with children showing great determination, resilience, and teamwork.

Whilst the points were totalled up, sprint races took place in 'house' colours, with winners running again in the overall final.

Key Stage 2 results were:

 1st BLUE 2923, 2nd YELLOW 2693, 3rd RED 2681, 4th PURPLE 2668, 5th GREEN 2545.

During the afternoon session, Reception and KS1 children challenged themselves to score as many points as they could, throughout their 10 activity zones. It was the first School Games for Reception children and KS1 supported them throughout the afternoon. Year 6 sports leaders led and scored the activities brilliantly, supporting the staff at zones and the children competing. There was again lots of cheering and clapping throughout the afternoon from children and parents, carers who came along to support them.

Unfortunately, the afternoon session was too hot for the sprint races to take place, but everyone had worked extremely hard at each zone, to earn points towards their final score and races do not earn any points.

Races will hopefully take place before the end of term for Reception and KS1, before the running track disappears in the rain…

Reception / Key Stage 1 results were:

1st GREEN 3019, 2nd BLUE 2881, 3rd RED 2868,4th PURPLE 2838, 5th YELLOW 2333

A BIG thank you to the staff and Year 6 Sports Leaders for all your support. I couldn't organise this event without you all.

Huge thanks to all the parents and carers who came along to spectate and support the children.
