On Tuesday 2^nd July, Year 3 and 4 took part in a ‘Scooter Workshop’ with Terry Price, a former scooter World Champion. Terry was the first in the world to land the scooter flair (Backflip 180).

There were 5 workshops throughout the day, to enable smaller groups of children as much scootering as possible. The children took part in different activities, including invisible scootering, a 'Super Mario Kart' game, where children had to avoid soft Super Mario toys thrown at them, which appeared to be a favourite, as well as scootering over ramps.

The afternoon concluded with a very inspirational whole school assembly. Terry told the children how he taught himself to achieve his backflip over many months of resilience and determination. He explained that the hours and hours he spends practising do not make him perfect, but instead make him progress.

Terry treated us to a few of his tricks on ramps, building up to the ‘finale,’ where he performed a successful backflip, to screams and cheers from the children and staff!

Every workshop scored 10/10 for their experience, and here are a few quotes from the children:

Kelsea: I have my own scooter, and now I want to try out some more tricks on it! I felt safe trying them out with Terry.

Fred: It was fun and enjoyable. I really liked it all and would recommend it.I felt safe taking part.

Bea and Florence: We enjoyed the ramps and the ‘Mario Kart’ game when Terry threw toys at us, and we had to dodge out of the way! It did not even hurt as they were so soft!

Ewan: It was really good. We did hopscotch, where we had to jump off and back on the scooters.

Chloe: I could not take part because I have broken my toe and have my foot in a boot, but I really want Mrs Turian to book Terry again so I can do it when I am in Year 4! I still got to go and watch though.

Oliver: I liked the ramps and tricks; I might try them on my own scooter!
