Year 5 / 6 Dodgeball Festival Fun for 20 children

Year 5s and 6s warm up at their first Dodgeball Festival.

On Tuesday 15th October, 20 Year 5s and 6s travelled to Northstowe Secondary School for an 'invitation only' SCSSP Dodgeball Festival.

The children were very eager and excited about what activities they would take part in, as it was the first time Swavesey had attended the event. There were dodgeball related activities during the morning, with small-sided games against other schools to finish.

Here are some comments about the event from some of the team members...

Felicity: I got to play with my friends and play fun games. I learnt that I am good at working with others. I felt good during the event, as I was being a good role model to others. I didn't enjoy one school not playing by the rules.

Florence: I liked all the mini-games at the start, as I was quite good at them. I also actually enjoyed playing the dodgeball matches since I learnt more. I felt good at the event when we nearly got a 'draw' with the other team, when I caught the ball and got Daniel back in the game.

Amelia: The game I enjoyed most was 'Kingball'. It was fun. It made me feel good that I was representing the school. I learnt that I am quite good at Dodgeball.

William: I didn't want to go at first, but I'm glad I did. I enjoyed playing with my friends but didn't like a school who broke the rules. I learnt that I can be good at anything if I have a go!

Daniel: I really liked the mini-games and I learnt that I am good at Dodgeball. I felt really excited about going to represent the school.

Dylan: I learnt that I am good at dodging, and I am good at getting people out.

Jacob: The thing I enjoyed most was throwing the balls at the other teams. I liked everything about the morning. I liked being part of a team, so I can make more friends.

Noah: I really liked playing the games, but not when another school wasn't following the rules. I didn't learn anything about myself, as I know everything about me already!

Ava: I loved playing 'Kingball' and playing with my friends. I learnt that I had to let other people try and catch the ball, and not just me!

Sienna: I liked that the sports leaders who were there were really kind and fun. The thing I learnt about myself was that I don't get mad if others are breaking the rules or being unfair.

Ryan: I really enjoyed playing the games, and I am good at dodging the ball. I learnt that I am really good at catching a ball too !

Buddy: I enjoyed the games and meeting the sports leaders who were running them. I felt good about myself at the event because I was being kind to everybody. I learnt that I'm really good at catching!

Thank you to Miss McAuley, Mrs Durant and Mrs Gladwell for accompanying the two teams. All the children were a credit to our school and had a lot of fun.
