Year 1 and 2 Great Fire of London Day

On Friday 8th November Year 1 and 2 were transported back in time to 1666!

Year 1 and 2 enjoyed a fantastic day learning all about life in 1666 and the events of The Great Fire of London. We started the day on 'Cheap Street' learning and trying out different trades from 1666. We made lots of exciting things and learnt a lot! During the morning we heard about a fire starting that was spreading rapidly. We found out about some of the ways people in London tried to stop the spread of the fire too.

In the afternoon we explored boxes from different houses and buildings. We used clues to work out who might have lived there and what their job might have been.

We had a fantastic day and learnt so much!

Here is what some of us thought:

'On Cheap Street I was a weaver. I learnt there was no fire brigade in 1666. My favourite part was making a clay mould with flowers on it' - Grace

'On Cheap Street I did weaving with my Mum. I learnt that they pulled the houses down to stop the fire from spreading. My favourite part was the ink maker because I could write a letter to my Mum.' - Ethan

'I worked as an apothecary. I learnt about the jobs in London. My favourite was the perfumer' - Sidney
