Year 3/4 at the Fitzwilliam Museum

Last week, Year 3/4 took an exciting trip to the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge.

The main purpose of this trip was to deepen our understanding of Ancient Egypt and get close up to hundreds of real artefacts from the time. The children were able to immerse themselves in the history and make comparisons between their time and our own while carrying out tasks to investigate Egyptian gods, jobs and everyday items.

In addition to this in-depth look at Egyptian life, the children also got to explore the galleries within the upper levels of the museum. There were a range of paintings from portraits to landscapes to still life artworks. While they were there the children thought about the different aspects of some of the paintings, had a god at sketching some of their own and comparing paintings.

This was a fabulous day that all the children thoroughly enjoyed and wouldn’t have been possible without the help of our parent volunteers, so a big thank you to them.
