Swavesey Primary School loves reading!

We have enjoyed lots of reading and book sharing as part of our World Book Day celebrations.
The children have enthusiastically engaged in a range of activities including dressing up as characters from their favourite book and participating in a parade in the playground which saw Aslan the lion and Lucy from The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe, defeat the wicked white witch of Narnia.
We have also pitted it out in battle whilst solving tricky book quiz questions and enjoyed pairing up with children in different age groups to share our love of books. Surprisingly, we also received a Swavesey Primary School 'shout-out' from Michael Rosen during one of his live lessons on nature and global tales.
This week, we have made new friends, developed our confidence reading aloud and made plenty of book recommendations. Look out for the new book displays around school sharing some of the exciting books that we have enjoyed reading.
'I really enjoyed reading to Pre School children. The book I read was Sid Dinner Sid. I would like to visit them again.' Charlie
' I loved reading to them, it felt like I was reading to my sister and Cave Baby was a nice book. It was so much fun.' Lyra
'I really enjoyed reading Brown Bear, Brown Bear, what do you see to the children. I would like to do it again soon.' Frankie
'I really loved reading to preschoolers because they were as good at spotting things with their eyes. The book I read to them was Each Peach Pear PLum. I would love to do it again.' Prisha
We hope you enjoy looking at the photos. Can you guess our book characters?
We look forward to hearing about your Reading Champion challenges - have you started baking or making a collage or reviewing a favourite book? Remember to purchase a book with the £1 book voucher that has been sent home.
We hope that you have fun with your child talking about reading and sharing wonderful stories with each other.
