Swavesey A, B and C Round 2 successes
Lots of goals, challenges and fun had by all!
On Wednesday 12th March, round 2 of the ‘BEE’ Netball Tournament took place at Northstowe Secondary School. The three teams arrived straight from school to a sleet shower, but thankfully it cleared, although it was still very chilly!
Unfortunately, three of the players were ill this week, so with a last-minute reshuffle of players, Swavesey A, B and C team were able to enter once again!
All three teams played amazingly well, with some fabulous scoring too. Swavesey A played three matches of 6 minutes, whilst B and C played four matches of five minutes each, so it was not very long to try and score goals! Swavesey B will also take on Swavesey C, who are a Year 5 team in this round.
Swavesey A's results were fabulous, with a 6-2 WIN against Pendragon A in the first match, followed by an 11-0 WIN against Willingham A and finally an 8-1 WIN against Hatton Park A. This means that Swavesey A will now play in the upper tier final of the ‘A’ league SHIELD FINALS on 24th April.
‘A’ LEAGUE RESULTS: 1st Swavesey A / 2nd Pendragon A / 3rd Hatton Park A and 4th Willingham A.
Swavesey B, made up of Year 5 and 6 players, had a 9-0 WIN in their first match against Willingham B, a 5-1 WIN against Pendragon B, and two losses, one against Swavesey C which was very close but ended 2-1 to Swavesey C and a final loss to Hatton Park B by 1-0, in another close match. Swavesey B automatically qualifies for the B team FINALS, over the two rounds, on 3rd April.
Swavesey C did an amazing job, considering they were all Year 5s and only started playing since September! Their first match was a 6-2 WIN against Willingham B, followed by a 2-1 win against Hatton Park B. They then won against Swavesey B, 2-1, another close game, and the final game was a 1-0 loss to Pendragon B. The C team should be so proud of themselves, as I am. A large proportion of the B teams were Year 6s, so they did very well indeed. They will all make a great A and B squad for the next school year.

Well done to you all. I am extremely proud of the teamwork and resilience you showed during the evening, in cold conditions and in some very close matches.
